For the first time in Bulgaria 3D decor at the Musical Theater

The Musical Theater in Sofia appeared with a new innovative 3D printed décor. Such an innovation is implemented for the first time in Bulgaria. The pride of the theater is a new production called “The Bat” which captivates with a classic décor – made by 3D printing.

The idea of this innovation comes from the set designer Ivan Slavov. His idea is to create a décor that would be contemporary but also used for a long time. So he came to the idea of 3D printing and decided to discuss it with the experts of 3DBGPrint. They made a brief consultation if 3D printing could be applied to the scenery. The experts of 3DBGPrint are optimistic about the innovative project and decide to make this bold step.

Ultimately, the project was launched at the beginning of August and before 3DBGPrint and the main set designers have a lot of work to do so that everything is ready for the start of “The Bat” in October. First, the 3D artist manages to model the sets on time and give them to the 3D workshop for the main work – the production of the many elements. The overall account is that over 200 parts are printed on time. For this purpose, 10 identical printers were used, which were loaded at full capacity. The material for 3D printing is also of fundamental importance and is specially selected. As a last resort, the team focuses on Fillamentum Gold Happens.

Fortunately, the 3DBGPrint team managed to produce all 200 elements on time, assemble them and send them for post-processing. Ultimately, the set design project for “The Bat” had a successful end at the end of September and now all viewers can enjoy both the production and the incredible innovative sets. Information about “The Bat”:

The new production came to the stage of the Musical Theater 100 years after its first premiere in Bulgaria. It was back in 1919 at the then “Free Theater”.

The work of the famous Austrian composer – proclaimed the King of the Waltz – has not left the world’s operetta stages since its premiere on April 5, 1874 at the Vienna Theater “An der Wien” until today. It has earned the status of a classic operetta and is therefore often performed in opera houses alongside the works of Mozart, Wagner and Verdi.

The operetta was first staged at the Musical Theatre in 1954. With the latest productions of “The Bat” in the period 2004-2006, the Musical Theatre toured the theatres of Japan, Greece and all of German-speaking Europe with exceptional success. The latest stage version is the ninth in a row on the stage of the Musical Theatre.

“The Bat” is a classic dance operetta in which the passions of love and family adventures are revealed against the backdrop of the beautiful melodies of the waltz, polka and quadrille. The plot entangles comic situations, born of love and jealousy, which test the marital bond. The melodramatic and comedic style, combined with Strauss’ beautiful music, which gushes like champagne, create a feeling of festivity and lightness.Source: 3Dbgprint
